Autumn Concert, with an “Old Testament” theme

Ladies enjoying a good singLadies enjoying a good singThe Allegri Singers will be performing a varied concert, ranging from Tallis in the sixteenth century via Handel and Elgar to Copland in the twentieth century, including that perennial favourite 'Zadok the Priest'. The pieces are all settings of Old Testament Texts. The Copland may not be familiar, but is an intriguing setting of Genesis, the same section that Haydn set in his Creation. If you know the Haydn, you will find the comparison quite fascinating!
