“Rhythms of the World”

Taking the soloSolo spot from our own ranksRhythms of the World, featuring Chilcott’s The Making of the Drum, Ramirez’ Misa Criolla and Fanshawe’s African Sanctus.

This exciting concert will be accompanied by an amazing variety of percussion instruments.

The Allegri Singers often perform settings of the Mass, but Ariel Ramirez' Misa Criolla is written in a South American idiom, making use of the language and rhythms of Argentina. Bob Chilcott's The Making of the Drum is a story set to music, while David Fanshawe's African Sanctus is an unorthodox setting of the Latin Mass harmonised with traditional African music and featuring children's voices, tape, and an unusual range of percussion instruments. Come along and be amazed!
