Twentieth Century Choral Music
This atmospheric, mainly twentieth century, a cappella concert will feature the Swiss composer Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir and Górecki’s Miserere.
The former has been described as “like a Renaissance mass lost in time, aware nonetheless of long centuries passing and new horrors unfolding.” The Górecki, composed in 1981 and dedicated to the then-clandestine trade union Solidarity, had to wait six years before the Polish authorities permitted its performance.
